The client is recruiting a R&D Research Engineer Associate based in San Jose, CA on an initial 6-month contract.
The client seeks a contract R&D Research Associate to join its R&D System Engineering team. This position involves development of liquid handling instrumentation, process optimization, and acoustic transfer optimization for product lines. Qualified candidates must be able to work independently and as a member of multi-disciplined development team, executing tasks on-time and to spec. Responsibilities may include data collection, data analysis, and design verification testing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the execution and design of experiments to understand fluid behavior as it effects ultrasonic acoustic drop ejection
- Assist in the execution and design of experiments to understand the effect of consumables on ultrasonic acoustic drop ejection
- Collect and analyze data used to define and verify new product features
- Summarize data and report results to the team
Experience Required:
- BS with 2 years of experience or MS with 0 years in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or related disciplines
- 2 years of experience in the development, test, and analysis of analytical instrumentation
Skills and Attributes Required:
- Experience with lab instrumentation & testing new equipment.
- Analytical, methodical, and detail-oriented in planning, experimentation, and analysis
- Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Some experience with statistical data analysis
- Excellent hands-on laboratory skills (dilutions, pipetting) and experience with basic laboratory equipment (balances, centrifuges, pipettors)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail and quality oriented
- A 'can do' attitude and the desire to learn
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB
- Hands-on experience with liquid handling instrumentation
- Demonstrated ability to test and troubleshoot electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems
- Experience with DOE methods for process optimization
