The Global Oil and Gas client in Perth are currently seeking a Senior Finance Advisor to join them on a 15-month assignment.
Be responsible for implementing the financial planning and control cycle. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Be responsible for implementing the financial planning and control cycle. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Producing financial and management accounts
- Annual budgets
- Annual statutory accounts
- Draft tax packs
- Cash flow reporting and management
- Treasury responsibility
- Deliver the full suite of Finance support (including tax, treasury, accounting and structuring) autonomously and coordinate the involvement of specialist advice
- The Finance Advisor will for a variety of activities/opportunities assigned to them by the Pool (Finance) Manager based on Value/Risk (e.g. control frameworks concerns, performance management system issues, large investments, complex contracts) depending on the requirements, of the specific activity
- Involves in steering, monitoring and participating in projects to implement systems or improve them (e.g. management control system, balanced scorecard, benchmarking, cost management)
- Assists with business/economic investments, tender analysis, costing
- Draws up liquidity plans and manages cash flows, contributing to financial risk management
- Independently ensure that a proper functioning control framework is in place and that risks are properly understood, reflected and managed
- Independently ensure value and risks are made transparent and understood in both decision-making and in performance management
- Ensure a fit for purpose performance management system is in place
- Lead/initiate structural improvement projects
- Bring new proposals of high value activities to the Pool Manager who decides on the resource allocation e.g. improvement projects, new business requirements
- Actively look for opportunities to reduce non value adding Finance activity (“demand management”)
- Maximise use of Finance Operations in delivery of processes
- Will on specific projects/transactions work with business stakeholders to work as the voice of Finance to deliver as “One Finance” with specialists and Finance Operations

- Finance/Economics/Accounting qualification
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Expertise across the spectrum of Finance competences
- Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk
- Maturity and authority to decide when to involve specialists and effectively play the independent Finance role
- Experience in Oil & Gas or Mining/Resources industry would be an advantage
- Do you hold hold a recognized senior finance qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)?
- Experience of reporting to the Board level, and proven ability to deliver financial information to time table and a high degree of accuracy.
- Should also be capable of creating accounts
