Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer

Job Summary
The Lead Systems Engineer serves as the lead technical contact for major projects during the quotation phase, and can carry the project thru execution and commissioning. In this role, the Systems Engineer will be tasked with reviewing customer's technical requirements, ensuring the technical accuracy of technical proposals, supporting the Commercial Operations, Services, Supply Chain and Sales teams, and communicating with the customer to define a detailed scope of work.

Responsibilities

• Represent global Drilling engineering in the ITO Phase
• Lead technical discussions with external customers
• Evaluate customer specifications and translate to clear requirements and defined scope
• Coordinate activities between Engineering, Sales, Services, Supply Chain and Commercial Operations teams
• Drive innovative solutions regarding coordination with multiple teams
• Ensure project interfaces between Mechanical, Software, Electrical and Mechanical Control systems are clearly understood and scoped
• Effectively communicate project requirements to design engineering teams during project handoff for proper project execution
• Own technical leadership for a project and ability to transition from ITO to execution of the project with focus on quality, schedule, interface management and design of products
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis
• Perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
• Interface with all engineering disciplines to ensure continuity, quality, and schedule adherence
• Interface with customer, all third parties as engineering representative
• Develop, review and verify quality-engineering documents

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the Engineering or Science disciplines from an accredited university or college
• Minimum of 3 years of technical leadership experience
• Experience with subsea drilling products engineering, e.g., Riser system, Blow out prevention equipment and controls system
• Experience with large scale project design, supply chain supporting, customer and third parties interaction
• Working knowledge of API, ISO, ASME and other related standards

Desired Characteristics

• Advanced Degree in business or an engineering discipline
• Demonstrated leadership of large scale engineering design programs
• Prior mechanical /hydraulics / electrical systems design, operation and modeling experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including executive level presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage teams with direct and indirect reporting lines
• Clear thinker with ability to develop, communicate, and deliver clear strategy and action plans
