Contract: Principal Commissioning Engineer / Australia

The are seeking a Principal Commissioning Engineer for an O&G operator for a 12+ month contract position based in Chinchilla, Queensland (15 x 13). This will be a multi discipline Commissioning Engineer to oversee all aspects of upstream (coal seam gas) commissioning. It will also involve oversight of various well trials that are ongoing, working with some of the latest skills and technology to enhance gas recovery.
The successful contractor will be responsible for supporting and coordinating aspects of Commissioning for Upstream, including the commissioning of brownfields trial projects.  This will report directly to the Commissioning Superintendent, under the leadership of the Commissioning Start Up Manager. Their peers include Operations Engineers, Project Planners & Control of Works Coordinator.
 
Position Specific

• Prepare the relevant commissioning procedures & documentation support project specific Commissioning execution
• Schedule and track commissioning progress
• Ensure the application of appropriate clinet standards particularly where they relate to commissioning
• Under supervision coordinate all aspects of the Upstream Project Commissioning
• Ensure commissioning interface with other project groups, in particular with Construction, Engineering, and Scheduling are maintained and effective
• Report commissioning progress to the Upstream Business
• Ensure a robust HSSE and Quality culture is undertaken on the project and on site in an appropriate professional manner
• Under supervision assist in the development and implementation of a Commissioning audit program pertinent to the entire Upstream Project
• Under supervision liaise with the Production Operations Group to ensure that at facility Start-Up there is a smooth transition of responsibility from to Operations.
• Provide Commissioning input into all aspects of the various sub project schedules and the integrated project schedule
• Provide input into facility design promoting safe and efficient execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities

 
Experience

• Strong Oil and Gas commissioning experience
• Experience in successful commissioning assignments

• Experience in dealing with equipment manufacturers, vendors, contractors and consultants involved in the Oil and Gas sector

• Demonstrated experience in negotiations with third parties and ability to provide guidance on project commissioning matters
• Experience in identifying potential issues and providing solutions

 
Knowledge and Skills

• Educated to tertiary level in an engineering discipline:
  • Electrical, Control Systems, Mechanical, Process or others disciplines are considered.
• Understanding of Commissioning programs, methodologies and systems
• Ability to actively interface between Engineering, Quality and Scheduling from a commissioning perspective
• Ability to function in an organisation with multiple ongoing Projects
• Ability to functionally manage multiple interfaces
• Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to understand other stakeholders objectives
• Experienced in solving complex problems
