The Operator Client is looking for a Process Technical Authority to join their team in Aberdeen.


Purpose of the role
Accountable for the technical assurance of the UK operated assets Process SECE’s Contributes to the engineering leadership of the Process community of practice across the business, ensuring consistency and efficiency of discipline approach and the safe delivery of value through this support by identifying complex Process issues as they arise and devising innovative solution

Areas of responsibility

  • Contributes to the Process engineering community of practice within Client including chairing regular discipline meeting, graduate and engineer training and development and resourcing support
  • Sets objectives and delivers results that have direct impact on the achievement of results within the job area.  This role influences the course of action that determines the achievement of results. The role has a critical element with regard to HSES requirements and decisions may have a wider impact on the business
  • Communication is a key element of the role as interfaces with a large number of internal functions for the completion of essential activities.  Communication is influence – has to interact and ensure activities are conveyed and completed as required, may have to encourage others to agree to plans, timelines, changes to systems etc.   Communication is largely internal however there is a requirement to collaborate externally to share knowledge and implement lessons learned.   There is also a requirement to engage with external third party providers
  • Oversees the condition of Process SECE’s and recommends improvements
  • Identify problems and update or modify working methods in own role without the benefit of defined procedures
  • Assures Process SECE degradation/threat management risk assessments and maintenance deferment risk assessments
  • Oversees Process SECE gap closure implementation plans
  •  Undertakes offshore/onshore Process SECE audits
  • Provides responses to ICP and HSE Process SECE audit findings
  • Assures the reliability of discipline equipment by investigating all failures and effecting remedial actions to ensure learnings are implemented
  • Assures Process engineering project and operational modification designs ensuring compliance with Process and Flow assurance engineering practices
  • Assures Process engineering elements of the Technical MoC Process
  • Identifies and champions innovation/technology implementation across the UK business
  • External committee memberships
  • Where required project/engineering management of small multidiscipline initiatives
  • Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager

Qualifications / Experience

  • Engineering Degree and Chartered
  • Technical professional with extensive experience of both front-line operational support and project design engineering
  • Proven experience in the design of MAH prevention
  • Skilled in design review/analysis, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Fault tree, Bowties. (HAZOP Chair accreditation is an advantage)
  • Ability to influence direct and in-direct subordinates
  • Ability to undertake professional SECE audits and expedite SECE actions
  • Ability to influence and manage people in an Asset/Function matrix
  • Ability to manage and deliver diverse activities simultaneously
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to present complex engineering issues to executive management and influential external stakeholders and regulators
  • HSEQ leadership and management within sphere of influence
  • Proven experience of managing sub-contracts
  • Awareness of Client MAH Prevention management system
  • Awareness of Process and Flow assurance SECE health, degradation, risk assessments, mitigations, open actions….
  • Ownership of Process and Flow assurance SECE Performance Standards & Engineering Practices
  • Introduction to TA&I team and Process and Flow assurance community of practice
  • Awareness of Client HSEQ Policies and Business Management System (BMS)
  • Awareness of Client Values & Business Principles
