Control Systems Engineer, (Systems Engineer II)
Primary Job Functions
- Role providing local expertise in the support of Honeywell Distributed Control Systems including maintenance & day to day troubleshooting.
- Participate in Site Safety Program to ensure safe operation for all personnel.
- Upgrades & design improvements of DCS in use at the Gulf Coast Growth Ventures Facilities.
- Provide local support to operations, projects, third party vendor contractors, and end users.
- Provide key performance metrics as required to support management decisions.
- Execute ongoing systems checks, maintenance activities, and data backups.
- Actively participate in tabletop exercises for disaster recovery planning and cybersecurity drills.
- Integrate seamlessly into small team, providing and requesting assistance when necessary.
- Maintain documentation and reference material for supported systems.
- Perform management of change activities that include documentation, stakeholder buy-in, communication to peers and closing outstanding work items.
- Provide expertise for process and execution (keystroke level) related questions for locally used applications.
- Install / upgrade / troubleshoot: Windows servers, workstations, applications, and Cisco network equipment.
- Support Windows Active Directory Domain services and infrastructure as needed.
- Support 24 hour-a-day, 365 day-per-year manufacturing operation.
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences or related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered as well.
- Relevant work experience in a Refining or Downstream Chemicals manufacturing/operating plant environment
- Ability to troubleshoot Honeywell Experion Hardware such as C300 controllers, Universal Input/Output Modules and Control Firewalls.
- Basic understanding of Experion security and access privileges.
- Process control knowledge and/or experience including: I/O instrumentation and continuous control systems (DCS)
- High Degree of Windows Client & Servers required
- Networking skills should include basic troubleshooting of L2 switches and connections to include copper and fiber.
- Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to be flexible, manage multiple priorities, and work well within a team environment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, walk on uneven surfaces, work in tight equipment room cabinets, work outdoors, climb stairs and ladders and work in areas with low lighting.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in petrochemical production/manufacturing facilities with a general understanding of personnel safety, environmental, and process safety risks
- Must have Work Authorization (Green Card or US Citizenship) to work in the US
- Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, shows initiative
- Enjoys working in a fast-pace environment with ability to plan and coordinate competing work activities and priorities
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural teams
