Subsurface Data Supervisor – Permanent – Based Aberdeen (Negotiable Salary)

Our client, a global operating company, is currently looking to hire a Subsurface Data Supervisor for a permanent role based at their Aberdeen offices.

Salary will be negotiable depending on experience.

 

Purpose of Role:
• The Subsurface Data Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and delivery of the Subsurface Data services to consistently meet current and future requirements of the business
• The role supports the business objectives by providing safe, secure, and reliable IS network to ensure sustainability and efficiency while adhering to cyber security requirements and principles
• The role is responsible for the creation and maintenance of operational documentation (incl. processes, procedures, design & configuration, and operating manuals)
• The Subsurface Data Supervisor manages corporate subsurface data, including seismic and well log data across company operating and non-operating assets. The role develops and maintains a quality assured corporate data store with trusted “single source of truth” data
• A key requirement for the role is to work with the Product Lead – Subsurface & Exploration to develop the strategic objectives within the discipline to improve ways of working aligned to the IS strategy. These should be demonstrated by results such as increased satisfaction from business customers
• Additionally, the role provides input to the Product Lead – Subsurface & Exploration to define the resilience and disaster recovery strategies


Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence Level:
• Provides input into the execution of the IS strategy and roadmap, develops relevant functional objectives for the area based on the role holder's knowledge and experience
• Supports the Product Lead – Subsurface & Exploration and supply chain to support IS operations sourcing strategy and partner relationship management
• Supports the Product Lead – Subsurface & Exploration with the development of the annual IS operations budget from a network and voice perspective
• Provides input for the Product Lead – Subsurface & Exploration to develop workforce plans that ensure IS operations can supply skilled resources to meet current and future demand across the enterprise
• Provides assistance and assurance to Subsurface and Wells functions related to the management of subsurface & well data quality, workflows and accessibility within the subsurface Product line
• Creates and manages application reference projects (Petrel, Kingdom, Techlog, etc.) including project setup, project extents, common templates, CRS, etc.
• Organises and maintains unstructured technical documents including migration to SharePoint, taxonomy generation and metadata creation
• Establishes data management processes for data interoperability and delivery across subsurface (and related) product line
• Maintains the Coordinate Refence Systems (CRS) catalogue and ensure that the appropriate CRS and transforms are used for all relevant data and projects
• Establishes and maintain a corporate store by managing the data in Petrel Studio and other relevant datastores, databases and applications
• Contributes to the regulatory reporting to OGA, NPD, etc. ensuring that company remains compliant with prevailing legislations
• Implements data standards and quality controls for subsurface and wells workflows and data types to ensure consistency and efficiency
• Assists in the coordination of the storage, retrieval and viewing of technical data stored with offsite vendors (digital, hardcopy, cores & samples)
• Provides a single entry and exit point for subsurface data entering and leaving the company, including partner data
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of company owned and partner assets, and planned drilling and exploration activities
• Manages a comprehensive and integrated ITSM landscape and associated service levels, based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related toolsets
• Supports the on-going security, performance, stability, maintenance, and monitoring of Subsurface data
• Adheres to enterprise technology standards, governance processes and
performance metrics
• Ensures the adoption of, and commitment towards, service improvements
• Ensures the development of asset inventories within the organisation's ecosystem
• Follows the formal governance mechanism to establish and monitor effective controls for the processes and functions performed by IS operations teams
• Develop staff through coaching, mentoring and performance management
• Drives development activity either via the product lines or project frameworks
• Responsible for ensuring IS operational capabilities achieve regulatory or statutory compliance requirements
• Develops, deploys, and manages solutions to meet defined business specific needs as defined through the product maps/lifecycles
• Drives development activity either via the product lines, COE’s or project frameworks
• Ensures that all processes/procedures/work instructions are clearly defined to help improve reliability, efficiency, quality ,and cost effectiveness of service components
under supervision
• May be required to provide out of hours support via an on-call rota

Critical Skills, Qualifications Experience, etc.:
• Strong industry and domain specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
• Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical discipline (Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering or Petrophysics) is desirable
• Must be knowledgeable in the main subsurface and well data types, characteristics, and tools/applications used to manage them
• Analytical mindset with problem solving skills
• Experience of developing and implementing process improvements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Work to high professional standards and demonstrate strong attention to detail
• Understand the regulatory regime, and the obligations on the company
• Able to articulate and demonstrate data quality and implement appropriate procedures to ensure that critical data is maintained to the appropriate standards
• Self-motivated with a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve important goals
• Good third-party management skills, in order to work closely with multi sourcing and vendors
• Proven experience in building and running multi discipline application support teams, working with business users, and third?party vendors
• Develops staff through coaching, mentoring and performance management
• Competent in budget planning and financial management
