Projects Cost Engineer (Contract Position)

The client a major Oil and Gas Operations company are looking to add a Project Cost Engineer to their team working from their Teesside office on a temporary contract.

The company has a current vacancy for an experienced Projects Cost Engineer to work at their Teesside Operations. Reporting to the Finance and Procurement Manager, the candidate will be responsible for the generation of project cost / resource estimates, generation of plant budgets, creation of work breakdown structures and ongoing monitoring/reporting of expenditure.  

Key Responsibilities include:

• Provide project financial acumen support for the modification projects work programme
• Cost and Resource Estimating
• Generation of project cost/resource estimates
• Generation of plant budgets
• Creation of work breakdown structures and ongoing
• To create and monitor Work Breakdown structures within Company SAP system
• Monthly cost report for AFE and minor Projects
• Check AFE documents prior to submission
• Prepare annual submission of project spend into Long Range Plan
• Maintenance / and development of the LTF P&M
• Compile monthly man hours data for maintenance and projects, calculate work efficiency
• Assist Functional leads and Engineers with Monthly reforecasting in line with Finance calendar
• QS activities to include progress measurements and contract cost validation
• Ensure all costs are ultimately recorded against the correct Joint Venture company
• Support month end processes such as accruals, invoice payments and value of works done
• Support the supervisor to monitor the contract value, ensuring that the work scope is effectively delivered, and the scope is not expanded or changed unless the appropriate process is followed and approved

  Competency Requirements

• Minimum relevant financial/quantity surveyor/engineering qualification or equivalent – Essential
• Member of professional body RICS or ACostE - Essential
• Multi-discipline project estimating and cost control experience in the oil & gas or other regulated industry – Essential
• Good reporting, communication, and workload management – Essential
• Similar working experience in the oil & gas industry or other regulated industry – Desirable
• Work on Plant in restricted areas when required – Essential
• Working at Height when required – Essential  
• Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate – Essential
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal, leadership skills and supervisory competence – Essential
• Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP – Essential
• Good reporting, communication and workload management – Essential
• Appropriate Physical and Mental Capability to undertake the role – Essential
