Contract: Project Engineer / Edmonton

The valued client, a large Oil & Gas company are seeking an experienced Project Engineer in Strathcona, AB on a long-term contract basis.

This Project Engineer position is responsible for the development and delivery of a low carbon fuel project being developed at the Scotford Refinery, including working with the business on determining the feasibility of the opportunity, defining a competitive scope, FEED, detailed engineering and execution planning and delivery of handover to operations.

 The project engineer will have cost and schedule accountability for portions of the project, including delivery against engineering and construction contract.  The successful candidate will work closely with the project manager, functional engineering leads, commercial leads, and technology teams as needed.

This position will manage activities during all project phases.

Experience and Qualifications required:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering.

• 5-10 years of Project Engineering Experience across the pre-FEED, FEED, EPC and CSU phase, or experience as part of a new energies, refinery small projects or turnaround, chemical or gas technical project organization
• Experience within oil and gas refining, downstream, and/or Biofuel industry including experience in design and construction
• Proven Track record of managing projects or being responsible for managing part of project scope in large projects or managing a portfolio of projects.
• Experience managing engineering and construction contracts and developing packages for large equipment pieces and modules.
• Competence in all stages of the project, including the construction phase is preferred.
• Experience with managing SCRUM (Agile)  
• Experience with new Technology development is an advantage.
• Strong team and people management skills, committed to continuous improvement and coaching, mentoring, and motivating others to be successful.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to help present project status, risks, issues and decisions that need to be made to the Decision Review Board (DRB) and other internal and external stakeholders.
