On behalf of the global Oil and Gas client, NES Fircroft are excited to recruit an experienced Leading Hand to join their team in Malaga.
This position is key in ensuring workshop proficiency and quality of work. It will be imperative in driving planning, organisation and supervising day to day activities of technicians, apprentices and trades assistants.

Technical Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and day to day execution of the repair, overhaul and condition monitoring services on client equipment within required time frame, to a high quality standard
- Perform preventative maintenance on various models of Waukesha, Caterpillar, White Superior and other Gas Engines and Ariel, IR, Gemini, Nuovo Pignone and other Gas compressors at the Customer’s plant, in the field or in the workshops, in line with manufacture standards
- Perform quality repair work, trouble shooting and tune up of various models of Waukesha, Caterpillar and White Superior Gas Engines and Ariel, IR, Gemini, Nuovo Pignone and other Gas Compressors at the Customer’s plant, in the field or in the workshops, in line with manufacture standards
- Perform quality major overhauls of various models of Waukesha, Caterpillar and White Superior and other Gas Engines and Ariel, IR, Gemini, Nuovo Pignone and other Gas Compressors at the Customer’s plant or in the field, in line with manufacture standards
- Perform repair work including reconditioning of engines and compressor components in our workshop in required time frame, in line with manufacture standards
- Create a report upon completed maintenance work for all Customer’s equipment and within set timeframes
- Commission new gas compression packages and/or equipment
- Maintain company HSE standards, whilst working at, as well as travelling to and from all job sites and premises. All near misses and accidents must be reported immediately to the responsible Supervisor
- Record and maintain all Company property issued to the Service Department such as common tools, special tools and precision tools and to keep them in good working order
- Supervise workshop and provide support to Branch Manager
- Provide coaching and mentoring to technicians, apprentices and trade assistants
- Support Hiring and on boarding of new technicians for increasing requirements
- Proactively lead employee performance
- Assist Supervisor/Manager complete all performance reviews for direct reports
- Maintain a positive teamwork environment – drive individual accountability
- Encourage skill and knowledge development among the workshop staff
- Liaise professionally with the client and internal stakeholders
- Assisting of all Planning and scheduling of workshop jobs
- Assist resourcing of technicians for planning scheduling requirements
- Working with other Branches for both internal works and resourcing requirements
- Demonstrate safety leadership
- Communicate and promote a Safety-First culture that supports continuous SEQ
- Fieldwork may be required
- Relevant Trade or degree qualified
- Demonstrated experience working in the natural gas engine and compression or similar industry
- Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships
- Demonstrated technical and trouble shooting ability
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Understanding of legislated Workplace Health, Safety, Environment and Quality obligations
- Sound judgement informed by extensive practical knowledge and experience
- Innovative and analytical, able to pre-empt and resolve problems with ease
- Planning and organisational skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Experience in a leading hand/supervisory position will be highly regarded
- Experience working with Waukesha and Caterpillar equipment desired
