An oil and gas operator is looking for CNC Machinists and Manual Lathe Machinists to support operations in Conroe, TX on a M-F schedule working full time. This is a contract opportunity with the potential for extension or permanent hire.
The Machinist will be working on either CNC and/or manual lathes that will be cutting a verity of mud motor parts. All machinists need to make sure that after cutting each part all measurements are accurate and that all parts are usable and within desired tolerances. The role is responsible for visual inspection of all parts upon completion.
Detailed Description:
- Repair all equipment brought to the machine shop
- Assist in inspection of all parts produced or machined
- Manufacturing of new down hole tools/components
- Log machine and bit hours
- Document inspections, test results, repair work done
- Ensure the shop space is clean and organized
- Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order
- Safely operate forklift to move equipment around the yard
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Load machine with work pieces or raw materials
- Strong familiarity with CAT drawings and geometric dimensioning testing
Job Requirements:
- Experienced with using various measuring equipment
- Ability to operate an overhead crane
- Experience with observing operations and verification of conformance of machined workpieces to specifications using measuring instruments such as fixed gauges, calipers, comparators, and micrometers
- Stay alert and focused up including occasional extended work periods
- Must be willing and able to be on call after hours and work on weekends
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 + months of experience on running a manual lathe or/and CNC machine
- On call rotation required
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Oracle experience
Additional Details: The Machinist must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
