Job Summary

The client is currently looking for a full-time experienced Sr. BIM/CAD Specialist to join their team providing 3D Model via Revit/Plant 3D and BIM management for industrial projects.

This position supports engineering and design efforts by providing technical CAD/BIM support to engineers and other discipline staffs as well as satisfying the quality requirements on the projects.

Sr. BIM/CAD Specialist will oversee the production of project information models which contain the full 3D Models that consist of material specifications, drawings and schedules associated with the design and construction phase of a project.

Responsibilities and Duties

The following are considered as main roles and responsibilities of Sr. BIM/CAD Specialist for Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA) Projects:

• Understanding of the CAD/BIM industry, concepts, practices, and procedures to create 3D Model and BIM 360 activities
• Create conceptual and detailed 3D model for industrial structures and commercial buildings
• Provide 2D design and construction drawings and details for all CSA activities
• Develop and update company CAD/BIM standards, support productivity tools (short cut functions, custom toolbars, etc.
• Oversees the process of project drawing creation through all phases, conceptual design, design development, construction documents, all phases of submittals, as needed on each project
• Reviews project files for compliance with standards
• Working closely with engineers and other disciplines in the team and assisting the team in drawing production.
• Coordinates modeling/drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other disciplines
• Provide all CAD/BIM project deliverables
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Review and check the drawings provided by other designers
• Prepare bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline
• Compiles, maintains, and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls
• Responsible for training onboarding of new hires and entry level staff. Skill in leading the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters who share in the design effort

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum10 to 15 Years of experience in Oil, Gas, Chemical and other industrial sectors
• Knowledge of CAD/BIM technology utilizing Revit and Plant 3D (Architectural and Structural)
• Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using Revit / AutoCAD / Plant 3D, Navisworks, engineering drawings, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline
• Works independently in the preparation of 3D-CAD design model under the supervision of engineers and generate 2D drawings utilizing the 3D model
• Participate in client model reviews
• Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups
• Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities
• Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline.
• Knowledge and understanding of Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution is a plus
• General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.
• Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection.
• Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings.
• Able to work in a team and cross functional environment.
• Good communication project management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

 

Must have a working knowledge and practical experience in the following applications:

• Revit
• BIM Collaborate Pro (Formerly BIM360)
• AutoCAD
• Navisworks

 

Knowledge of the following software applications are ideal but not required:

• Plant 3D
• Autodesk Advance Steel
• ReCap (Laser 3D Scan)
• Bluebeam Revu

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to break down technical concepts and communicate fundamentals to staff
• Ability to manage priorities with minimal guidance

 

Education Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen years if non-degreed
• CAD Certificate form accredited institutes or colleges

 

Physical Demands

Must be able to perform the site visit to prepare sketches and as-built drawings. Must be able to climb the ladder and stair platforms. Must be able to lift or exert up to 10 pounds. Requires good depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
