Energy Markets and Trading Analyst / Cork

We are working on behalf of a leading company within the renewables sector for an Energy Markets and Trading Analyst, to be based in Cork, Ireland. You will be part of the trading and data analytic team, managing and optimising the onshore wind and green supply positions in the Irish and UK power markets. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and develop in a fast-moving team with room to progress to more advanced roles in the future.

A few of the responsibilities of the role would be:

• developing and maintaining tools used by Traders for optimising our onshore wind and green supply positions in the market
• managing and developing data views to support trader self-service analytics
• learning about power system fundamentals, market price drivers, and weather patterns and eventually contribute to the wider team’s growth.

Requirements for the role are as follows:

• have an interest in power markets or the wider energy transition
• have excellent analytical skills, a high level of numeracy, and excellent attention to detail; experience in SQL, python, or equivalent would be advantageous
• excellent communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills
• can digest multiple sources of information, draw sensible conclusions, and make sound decisions in a pressured environment
• are eager to learn as you’ll be working in a rapidly evolving industry with the potential to learn power system fundamentals, trading strategies and detailed analytical techniques.
