MAIN JOB FUNCTION
The job holder is responsible for and takes part in:
- Trading of physical fuel oil and associated derivatives;
- Managing price risk exposure on the trading book;
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with trading counterparties;
- Negotiating term and spot contracts with refiners, traders and end users;
- Maintaining a deep understanding of the fuel oil market and energy markets in general;
- Devising proprietary trading strategies, both on physical and derivatives;
- Liaise with Refining and Marketing to optimise the supply of feedstock and the sale of products;
- Liaise with Petrochemical to optimise the sale of products;
- Liaise with Shipping for the chartering of shipping, on spot or term basis;
- Provide analytical assessments to support trading decisions.
- Coaching junior members of the team
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
General Trading Responsibilities
- negotiate and conclude market transactions on a spot/term basis within an agreed strategy to generate value for ETB;
- locate and acquire optimal feedstock for Eni’s refining system;
- locate and sell Eni’s refining and petrochemical system products to the best buyer;
- be able to develop an asset backed trading strategy wherever Eni runs productions/assets
- provide insight and support to the development of the long-term products trading strategy for ETB;
- build and maintain key relationships with other trading companies, refiners, petrochemicals and end users;
- develop and present analysis to management to support future trading positions;
- track and communicate the developments in the market and relevant market intelligence, including supply and demand balances and competitor activities to other traders of the team;
- support the origination team in developing long-term asset and contractual positions in line with the ETB long-term products trading strategy;
- liaise with charterers in shipping and operations to ensure all physical movements are executed safely and efficiently;
- guide and mentor the Trading Analysts dedicated to the oil products trading team
- upon conclusion of any transaction, to enter all the details into the internal trading system in a timely and accurate way;
- ensure all trading activity is always carried out in compliance with all relevant policies and regulations and principles of Eni;
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS
- preferred Educational Qualification is a Degree (with preference for numerate subject such as Engineering, Mathematics or Economics);
- more than 4 years of experience in trading;
- proven track record of delivery;
- experience with derivative instruments for hedging;
- knowledge of market fundamentals and market analysis;
- experience of refining operations and processes considered as beneficial;
- knowledge of IT standard software and software dedicated to the trading activities;
- strong team player
- courageous, confident, resilient, dynamic and disciplined;
- experience in working in a global and international organization;
- strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build effective relationships internally and externally;
- full command of English language (written & spoken); knowledge of any other language would be beneficial.
