Consents & Permitting Specialist - Offshore Wind (OSW)

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Consents Specialist - Offshore Wind with our client one of the world's leading energy companies.

This is a contract assignment based in London. We welcome applications from candidates with the right to work independently in the UK.


Role Summary

The Consents Specialist position will sit within the Renewables business area of the Consenting & Permitting Competence Centre. The position will play an important part in a critical phase of project development, supporting and reporting to the Onshore Consents Lead in the post-application/examination phase of 2 major UK offshore wind projects. Some post consents activity may also be required.

Attendance in the London (Paddington) office at least 2-days per week is preferable. The position will require travel within the UK for attendance at issue-specific hearings in the examination, stakeholder meetings and site visits as appropriate.

The position is initially for a 12-month contract with the option to extend for further 12 months.


Key responsibilities may include:


* Support the Onshore Consents Manager with onshore consents-related activities in preparation for and during the examination, including but not limited to drafting of responses to Examiner questions, responses to Written Reps, drafting of material in support of issue-specific hearings etc.
* Task owner of several onshore topics/receptors/effects, as appropriate to candidates' strengths and experience.
* Provide advice and input into the strategy for examination.
* Support in the review, prioritization, and strategy for responding to Examiner questions, representations etc.
* Occasional support to the Offshore Consents Manager, Landowner Manager, and Consultation Manager as required.


Experience


Experience in offshore wind development & consenting under the Planning Act 2008 Development Consent Order (DCO) preferred.
Alternative experience of UK Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPS) under the Development Consent Order, and/or Town & Country Planning Act.
Experience in representing projects during the Examination / public hearings phase.
Experience with external stakeholder management.
Experience in project management, including complex schedules and deliveries.
Alternative experience with onshore infrastructure projects, e.g. roads, pipelines, and railways during the post-application determination phase.
