The valued client is seeking a Building Maintenance Operator near Conklin, AB for a 1-year contract.
Description:
BMO Overview
Reporting to the NPI Trade Coordinator the BMO (Building Maintenance Operator) is a new and exciting role. The focus of this role is to increase our level of support to the camps and critical infrastructure. This is a camp-based position working 7 days on 7 days off rotation, on call 24hrs while on shift.
General duties
- Facility walks through 2 buildings per day rotating locations
- Develop and maintain a log of critical infrastructure checks
- Receive all priority calls for these facilities 24hrs while on shift.
- Completion of a prescheduled amount of work orders based on availability
- Communicate and report to the Trades coordinator.
- Prioritize the calls and educate on how non urgent request can be entered at WO.
- Have the first look and repair of problem if within capability, items too time consuming or complex can reach out to support from site trades
- Inspect new installations and renovations to ensure compliance with the scope of work and all applicable standards
- Use CMMS for processing new work notifications and managing open notifications to support building and occupant needs
- Co-ordinate shut down/startup of building systems for projects through Safe Work Permit System procedures. Involves Permit Issuer other trades and building occupants.
- Act as the Company representative for supporting non-core service providers
- Follow Company policies, principals, values
- Support Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Practice for assigned portfolio
- Facilitate Fire Impairments for assigned portfolio
- 7 days on/off - coordinated with cross shift to arrange for any time off required.
- 5 years’ experience in operating and maintaining office, hospitality, commercial and light industrial facilities.
- Be qualified as a certified tradesman as a plumber, or carpenter, electrician, or HVAC
- Be able to repair door locks, address small plumbing leaks and blockages,
- Troubleshoot air conditioning systems, boilers, heaters, appliances
- Strong knowledge in Fire Alarm System operation, maintenance, regulations, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Fire Codes, Building Codes and Life Safety Systems.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Programs
- Strong experience with CMMS
- Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
- Travel to and on job sites is required. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
- Strong working knowledge of all aspects of building operations and maintenance.
- Strong ability to effectively identify and solve building related problems.
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal direction.
- Demonstrate flexibility responding to emergencies and rapidly changing needs.
- Strong understanding of OHS regulations and procedures.
- Display sense of ownership and accountability for facilities condition
