Purpose

Due to our phenomenal growth, we are seeking a Power Systems Study Engineer, as part of Anesco's growing EPC Projects team. The position is a Technically Authoritative role within the Engineering business division of Anesco. The position consisting in the coordination/development of the power system engineering team, business development/client account management, and leading and/or performing planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies and systems analysis investigations for clients in the UK primarily, but also within the EU. The role will also work closely with other departments, including the Development, Operations, Optimisation and Commercial teams.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a team of electrical engineers of various experience levels and see to their continuous technical development.

  • Lead/oversee the continuous development of enhanced power system planning & studies processes, methodologies and tools for quality and efficiencies.

  • Investigating and developing solutions within system stability and time-domain studies for the integration of large converter-based systems.

  • Business development to generate leads, secure tenders, prepare proposals, and win work.

  • Perform or coordinate power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, reliability analysis etc.

  • Prepare functional specifications for facility requirements related to different system development portfolios, for purposes of developing preliminary designs and obtaining estimates for the associated facilities.

  • Perform, coordinate or review planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice.

  • Prepare, report, and deliver presentations to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Undertake thought leadership activities (e.g. speaker at conference, panelist, technical articles, whitepapers, etc.) and promote Anesco's expertise and unique approach.

  • Maintain close coordination with other relevant all business divisions for cross selling and cross staffing opportunities.

  • Applies knowledge & skills across all engineering activities, acting as a technical resource to others in own area and to colleagues with less experience.


Skills & Competencies

  • Familiar and experienced with key UK Market Operators, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.

  • Ability to coordinate a team, and develop/mentor new/graduate and young professionals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering; ideally a Ph.D. degree in Power Systems with Chartered status.

  • Experience in power system analysis and planning.

  • Proficient in software tools such as DIgSILEN,T PowerFactory, and PSCAD, and programming experience in Python with a particular focus on the detailed modeling of renewable power sources and carrying out AC and HVDC studies.

  • Registration with relevant applicable engineering associations.
