Contract: Senior Procurement Officer / Perth

The client a Global Oil and Gas organization in Perth CBD are currently seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to join them for a 12-month contract.

Processes purchase order requisitions whilst ensuring economical purchasing decisions are made and resultant products/services and performance meets the standards of quality, specification and timing of the requisitioner for both goods and documentation supply, as well as maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure ongoing service is provided to both internal and external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to take a more leadership role within a team to effectively coordinate business activities in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
• Maintain awareness of, and compliance with, the Management System procedures which directly affect the work undertaken
• Provide training and mentoring to supervised team members
• Capability to take a leadership type role on a project in the absence of a PPM.
• Examine requisitions and select potential supplier(s) from preferred vendors
• Prepare quotation requests, with all Technical and Commercial attachments
• Analyse quotations and negotiate for most cost effective and quality managed purchase.
• Demonstrate adequate cost savings.
• Award Purchase Orders, ensuring acceptance of the P.O. by the Vendors and conformity to Terms and Conditions, whilst maintaining consistency with budget and quality standards
• Arrange with vendors and/or assist internal customers with transportation and import/export formalities, ensuring timely and cost?effective performance for deliveries.
• Expedite Office and Corporate Purchase Orders and report vendor performance and verify claims for progress payments, to ensure vendor meets delivery/performance criteria
• Ensure below standard goods and/or processes are subject to corrective action, to maintain quality standard and Support OSD process for site delivered materials
• Reconcile delivery queries and invoice discrepancies
• Monitor Purchase Order status, ensure Project Procurement Plan is updated where appropriate and vendor meets agreed purchase conditions and conforms to specification and delivery promise
• Ensure vendor adherence to quality and safety requirements and that clients and statutory obligations are met
• Maintain approved suppliers list, P.O. close out and performance sheet completed for nominated vendors, to ensure that Suppliers are qualified to meet requirements, and this provides historical data on Vendors Performance
• Maintain the purchasing controls for GEOS (Oracle) Purchasing System
• Ensure that all requirements of Customs and Tax authorities are complied with and all appropriate records are maintained to minimise exposure to Customs Duty and Tax Liability, whilst ensuring that the Company complies in all respects with the relevant legislative/legal requirements

Key Skills and Experience Required:

• Knowledge of purchasing and expediting techniques and supplier capabilities as related to the oil/gas industry in a medium to large contracting organisation
• Ability to work with procedures and a quality system
• Knowledge of supply chain management and freight forwarding
• Good multi discipline procurement background in Oil & Gas Industry
