Senior Automation/Robotics Project Engineer - 2 year contract
Our client, a leading Steel manufacturing company are looking to recruit a Senior Automation/Robotics Engineer to their growing site team south of Melbourne, to work on a variety of exciting upgrade projects.
The client is looking for:
• 10 years' experience in Controls/Automation engineering, preferably within the heavy engineering industries. (Steel, Oil & Gas, Water, Mining etc.)
• A good working knowledge of PLC programming and robotics engineering
• Working knowledge and understanding of Australian building codes and standards
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical/Controls engineering.
You will be responsible for;
-Input to all phases of a project within the automation scope of services as required by the Project Manager/Engineer
-Define the system's global architecture and prepare project feasibility assessments from an electrical and automation standpoint
-Design of electrical and automated control systems including Human Machine Interface (HMI) development
-Create project technical performance specifications and functional descriptions
-Selects the appropriate technology for projects (PLC, Drive, Instruments, Sensors, Valves, Actuators, MCC, Motors, Robots, etc.) and ensures that they are fully compatible
-Programming of PLCs and user interfaces – Experience in automation interfacing and protocols such as Profibus & Profinet.
-Hands on programming experience, including specification and design on major PLC brands, such as Siemens & Allen Bradley. Human Machine interface programming and specification with exposure to brands such as Citect, Panel View and WinCC.
-Robotics programming of ABB robots looked upon favourably. Experience with efficient alarm design and fault-finding guides.
-Design drawings for construction of the physical components of electrical and automation systems including, but not limited to the following:
-Prepare technical reports and client correspondences/presentations to project stakeholders
-Review and prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for procurement of major electrical and controls equipment as well as construction document packages
-Actively involved and responsible for installation and commissioning of automation work packages for specific capital projects

- Single Line Diagrams, Motor Control Schematics/specifications, Control panel layout & design
- Electrical power distribution systems design and specification
- I/O wiring
- Loop drawings
- Network system design

-Review and prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for procurement of major electrical and controls equipment as well as construction document packages
-Actively involved and responsible for installation and commissioning of automation work packages for specific capital projects
