Heavy Equipment Operator
The Fleet Department is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for a job in Northern Ontario. Four month contract with the possibility of extension into 2024. Camp living and travel covered.
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The operator may be asked to operate heavy equipment including but not limited to trucks, front-end loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, compactors, snowblowers, and other pieces of equipment. The operator must also clean, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures. Requirements Successful candidates will be required to work away as needed and be responsible for the following tasks:

Requirements Successful candidates will be required to work away as needed and be responsible for the following tasks:
- Safety:
- Perform work in accordance with all organizational requirements, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring highest standard of safety is upheld
- Operate machinery in a safe manner
- Adhere to applicable traffic standards
- Document all required logbooks, hours, maintenance records of equipment being operated, and report on required basis
- Responsible for the safety of labourer or swampers working with the Operator
- Participate in tailboard meetings, including identification of potential work site hazards
- Report potential hazards to Foremen
- Adhere to all company specific and industry specific safety regulations
- Operation
- Operate and maintain matting installation and service equipment
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/ or required
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
- Advise the Foremen of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
- Perform routine maintenance
- Provide manual labour assistance as required
- All other duties as required by crews
- Grade 12 education would be considered an asset
- Minimum class 3 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract would be considered an asset
- Class 1 driver’s license would be considered an asset
- 1 – 3 years’ experience operating equipment similar in nature
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Good team player
