Senior Solar Engineer / Cape Town

We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of the world’s leading energy consulting firm looking for a Senior Solar Engineer to join their team. The role is based in Cape Town, South Africa and you will need to be able to travel to project sites when required.
 
We are looking for someone with 7 years working within the Solar PV industry who can supervise the technical due diligence review process to support the finance and construction of solar projects in ME&A. You will communicate with clients and investors resolving any technical issues with complex Solar PV projects.
 
For this role the main responsibilities include:

• Developing and winning proposals for scopes of services related to owners engineering and due diligence work.
• Prioritizing QHSE considerations within the team to ensure safe execution and healthy work environment.
• Initiating and coordinating the technical review process among internal specialists.
• Performing portions of the due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model (OPEX and CAPEX) reviews.
• Coordinating input from technical specialists and writing of the due diligence reports.
• Discussing and resolving technical issues with project developers and investors, including coordinating input from internal technical specialists as necessary.
• Coordinating construction monitoring, including performing site visits.
• Supporting customers through the financial closings of projects.

 
A successful candidate will possess the following:

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in the solar PV industry.
• At least 3 years previous Technical Advisory experience for large scale solar PV projects
• Experience in the context of engineering, estimation, construction, development, origination, consulting, project management, technology, asset management, or finance.
• Familiarity with contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, and/or asset management contracts).
• Familiarity with energy industry technology (modules, inverters, mounting system, balance of system, etc)
• Experience in Energy Production Assessment for solar PV (PV System modelling) and conceptual design.
• Project management experience including an ability to establish and maintain good relations with clients.
• Understanding of budgets and financial models.

 
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
 
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent, a Master’s Degree preferred.
 
Experience: 7+ years’ experience in the Solar PV industry with 3 years in a Technical Advisory role.
