- Target Start Date: Immediate.
- Role is a residential contract position to report to Lead Electrical Engineer.
- Requirement is for a minimum duration of 1 (one) year from start date.
- Contractor may be required to visit / perform related tasks in assets outside the Main Office Complex for which no extra compensation will be paid as it is calculated into the overall rate.
- Work Schedule: Minimum of 5 days per week / 9 hours per day (subject to change). Contractor is expected to work the hours necessary to complete the tasks on schedule, this may result in working extra hours for which no extra compensation will be paid as it is calculated into the overall rate.
Required Experience
- 10 years varied Electrical systems design, installation, hook up and commissioning for offshore upstream Oil and Gas facilities.
- Experienced in Electrical power systems, various electrical protection and control systems, some experience in interfacing between electrical and Control systems including Distributed Control Systems (‘DCS’) and Programmable Logic Control (‘PLC’).
- Competent and experienced in hazardous area classification to international codes including API RP500/505. Fully conversant with design, specification, selection, installation requirements for electrical equipment to be installed in hazardous areas in accordance with API RP14FZ and IEC 60079.
- Experienced in the full procurement cycle for electrical equipment including specification/Request for Quotation (‘RFQ’)/datasheet production, technical bid clarification and analysis, Vendor data review, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT) etc. Able to support other disciplines’ procurement processes as required.
Required Educational Qualifications
- BS or BE degree in Electrical Engineering (minimum).
- Preferably Chartered / Professional Engineer.
Required Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of offshore plant / facilities
- Electrical detail engineering requirements
- Computerized drafting systems
- Aware of statutory Electrical codes, specifications and guidelines
- Knowledge of Autocad 2D & 3D
- Knowledge of the various electrical equipment and reputable system manufactures/supplies including but not limited to High and Low Voltage power systems including switchgear and MCC’s, transformers, distribution equipment, Direct Current Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems, subsea cables, variable speed drives, installation materials etc.
- Knowledgeable in writing and interpreting technical reports.
Required Competencies and Skills
- Full understanding of international codes and standards, including safety standards and understand the theory behind them. Conversant with both National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Electrical Code (IEC) design and installation.
- Competent in the use power system analysis tools using Electrical Power Analysis Software (ETAP) software such as short circuit, load flow, motor starting, transient stability, protection coordination etc.
- Competent in stand-alone electrical calculations such as short circuit analysis, lighting design, cable sizing, equipment sizing etc.
- Able to present and write technical reports in fluent English.
- Proficient computer skills. Computer literate in Windows based programmes.
- Effectively communicate with different nationalities with different native languages and religions
- Competent to provide technical input to Lead Engineer for developing and maintaining the Company’s engineering philosophies, specifications, regulatory requirements. Provide assurance that the engineering expectations of Health Safety and Environment (‘HSE’) and specified engineering Codes and practices are being met.
- Competent to work closely with all groups and provide technical input and support to all projects within Engineering and other groups within the Company including E&I engineers, Process, Offshore, Contracts & Procurement during all phases of projects.
- Competent to provide technical input for engineering studies required to ensure that projects and change proposals carried out for Assets are compliant with the Company’s requirements and regulatory obligations.
- When required be prepared and able to lead and administer a small group of engineers reporting to Lead Electrical Engineer.
- Efficiently Produce engineering deliverables for Electrical discipline required for in-house Project execution. These may include all study reports, calculations, scopes of work, material requisitions, specifications, data sheets etc.
