This is a multi-faceted role encompassing support and development of process analytics on pilot scale equipment, lab-based analytical chemistry, and related project management and delivery.
If you were already in this Analytical Development Chemist role, here are some of the areas you would have been working in this week:
- Acting as the main point of contact with respect to the company's existing suite of analytical equipment, and working with management to map out and plan how this should evolve on a medium-term horizon
- Delivering the process analytics on pilot scale and larger test equipment and undertaking projects as required to deliver further improvements in the company's process analytical capability
- Implementing a schedule of routine preventative maintenance, calibration, and validation for all analytical equipment to ensure all data generated are of the highest standard and quality
- Working with management and the R&D team to integrate maintenance, calibrations and validation schedules and outcomes into the management system
- Managing relationships with third-party suppliers of equipment and services in relation to analytical equipment
- Keeping control of the requisite budgets allocated for projects, as well as equipment maintenance, calibration, validation, and repair.
- At least five years of experience working in an R&D type environment, either industrial or academic experience, or some combination of the two
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of typical lab analytical techniques, including infrared spectroscopy (near- and mid-IR), gas and liquid chromatography, titrations (acid/base, ion specific, Karl-Fischer,etc.)
- Demonstrable experience of calibration development for near-IR spectroscopy or similar chemometric applications
- Demonstrable working knowledge of statistical techniques relating to analytical method development and validation.
