The valued client, a Global Energy Company are looking for an Environment Coordinator on a permanent basis in Fort McMurray, AB.

About the role:

  • Reporting to the Supervisor, Environment, the preferred candidate will be responsible for coordinating environmental monitoring and regulatory requirements for the Oil Sands Business Unit, in alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • You will also be responsible for:
  • Field duties and coordination of environmental activities including but not limited to:
  • Contractor Management & Supervision (of environmental contractors).
  • Groundwater Sampling & Monitoring.
  • Industrial Run-Off and Surface Water Management (sampling, monitoring, pump-off supervision, and reporting).
  • Waste Management (Segregation, Manifesting and Reporting).
  • Weed & Vegetation Management.
  • Wetlands Monitoring & Reporting.
  • Wildlife Monitoring & Reporting.
  • Air Emissions Monitoring Management & Reporting.
  • Non-Compliance Reporting.
  • Interfacing with Regulators.
  • Spill response and emergency management.
  • Communication and training of staff and contractors specific to environment principles and best practices.
  • Ensure that all environmental management standards and procedural aids, pertaining to all aspects of Oil Sands, are followed for existing operation and project work.
  • Assuring that all EPEA (Environmental Protection Enhancement Act) approval, monitoring programs reporting is completed on time and accurately.
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Annual budget development and management.
 

About you:

 

  • University Degree or Diploma in the physical or natural sciences, or environment technology.
  • Minimum 7 years’ work experience directly related to field coordination in the environmental field.
  • Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Strong expertise and technical background in Air Emissions Monitoring Management & Reporting are preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills are a must.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organization skills.
 

Please note: Candidates will have to be local to Fort McMurray or willing to relocate (The client will provide a with a relocation package for the right candidate
