We are currently in search for a Permits and Approval Principal to be based in Jordan / Egypt.

Key accountabilities will include:
  • Securing project permits, licences, regulatory approvals and consents
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Project permitting strategy and schedule
  • Ensure that all applicable regulatory requirements are identified and specifically communicated to Company's Commercial and Project teams
  • In conjunction with the Company's Communities Team, manage engagement with a range of government agencies, NGOs, community members and other stakeholder groups as part of the permitting and approval process
  • Manage work undertaken by approval consultancies and coordinate the exchange of information between the consultancy, project team and internal subject matter experts
  • Technical review of permitting documents, supporting studies and scopes of work
  • Work with Company's Projects team to ensure that project-related permitting and approval processes are delivered effectively, in a timely manner and in line with agreed project schedule
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders including the Regional Lead, Middle East and North Africa, as well as other team members covering Commercial, Communities, and other activities
  • Tracking and reporting on project permitting status
  • Communication of organization's environmental permitting progress internally
  • Maintain and foster a working environment which promotes safety in all that we do
Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Graduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent (post graduate qualifications also highly regarded).
  • At least 10 to 15 years’ experience in an environmental or permitting role within the resources sector, energy industry or equivalent
  • Major project greenfield permitting and approval experience (including Environment and Social Impact Assessment, Impact Assessment Studies etc.)
  • Significant experience within the Middle East and North Africa, particularly Jordan and Egypt.
